About Jennifer

I am a wife
I am a mom
I am a daughter

I love my kids
I want to raise them with values, good morals and to love God
I want to protect my kids
I want to give them a safe environment in which to grow and thrive
But I don’t want to protect them too much…

I love food
I am considering vegeterian-ism – but I love steak
I hate chemicals in my food
- especially HFCS and anything hydrogenized.

I love music, reading, worship, crafting, driving (fast, of course)
I am trying to live in a more sustainable fashion…

In a former life I made things…
…and I sold them
http://mimsi-bags.com
… but I’m taking a break from that for a bit.
Life, you see, can get in the way from time to time.

My name is Jennifer Hudson, and I was never on American Idol.

So, I have been blogging for a bit – professionally, of course – and came to the realization that I have things to say that don’t belong on a handbag blog…

Some fashionistas don’t care about gardening, raising kids, loving God, or eating an organic diet… and some do.

I’m not a fashionista… although I do enjoy making bags.

I consider a great pair of earrings to be the quintessential accessory. I wear mascara and lip gloss once a week*.  (*this has actually changed to become more like a normal woman – the full meal deal, sorta – but still only a few occasions per week)

I have an addiction to shoes, but generally wear the same 4 pair regularly. I wear cargo capris or jeans and a t-shirt most days, although I have broken out of that mold with a fun, flirty Summer dress on occasion (which my husband enjoyed). Flip flops rule, as do 4″ heels. Go figure.  The extra shoes on the shoe rack are slowly being stolen by my girls, who have recently discovered their feet are big enough to wear them.  *heavy sigh*

I have a Kuhl hoodie that is accessorized by a unique scarf in cold months – and I rarely wear a coat.

I have a compulsion against wearing jeans to church, so yes, you will generally see me in a dress there. With those 4″ heels, of course. On the off chance that it’s an evening service, you may see those jeans – you know the long kind that flare at the bottom and require me to wear 4″ heels.  Flip-flops just won’t do… unless, of course, it’s pushing 90 degrees outside.

I have a friend who has adopted a vegan diet. My eyes have been opened to the difficulties of this choice, and the wonderful world of delicious food that exists within this choice. On occasion there may be lots of links to cooking here – much of it with an organic or vegan slant.  Or bread.  Occasionally I will post a recipe. If you are lucky I will get a pic taken before it is consumed.  If you are into recipes, check out Cottage-Recipes.com since that’s where I try to keep most of mine.

I have 2 beautiful girls. They are 2 of the highlights of my life. If you read regularly, you could be tortured with hearing about their successes & trials as well as mine as I attempt to train them. They are as different as night & day, and although they tend to fight, I know that they love each other immensely.

I have the most amazing husband on the face of the planet – no, I really do. Sorry ladies, the best one is taken. He has the most amazing blue eyes… and that’s not all… but I don’t kiss & tell ;~)

I am a child of God…
That will be discussed here as well. I don’t care if anyone finds it offensive.  Sometimes it may seem like that is ALL that is discussed.

I care about our world
- how amazing it is
- how we abuse it
- how it’s people need Jesus

I’m SO NOT politically correct.
I say what I think
No apologies if it offends someone – they don’t have to agree. They don’t even have to read…

We sponsor a little girl named Norma through Compassion. There are so many children in this world that come from families that don’t have much… and we as Americans are so richly blessed beyond even our understanding. We all need to do something to help reach out to others with God’s love. This is just one way that our family chooses to do it.
