This one isn’t related to Breast Cancer Awareness, but to climate awareness.  Yes, that is an important issue too.

So what was the big announcement?  Well, it’s not such a big one, I just wanted to pass on that I posted some pics of the Michelle Messenger Bag over at Design-My-Handbag.com.  The picture has needed updating for about a year, and I haven’t managed to get a decent pic until now.  I know… shameless self promotion… again.  I’m just curious what everyone thinks of the bag!

The other big announcement is that I am getting my camera back tomorrow – hopefully it will be bringing my hubby home to me with it.  Yay!  Did you enjoy his guest blogging yesterday?  See, I’m not the only writer in the house – in fact, I’m probably the worst writer in the bunch.  In retrospect, I shouldn’t tell you that… then you might stop reading my miscellaneous blatherings altogether.  Nah, y’all like it too much… right?

Well, I’ve got to go fix something for my kids to force down their throats, so I’ll catch you all later.

I stopped over at MomDot.com this morning to see what’s going on, and lo and behold, I have been nominated for Miss Congeniality in The Dottie Awards!

I am amazed… dumbfounded… flabbergasted… you choose the adjective. I am also touched and honored. I think this is the first time I have been nominated for ANYTHING online, and I have to say, it’s pretty cool.

Miss Congeniality is the award that is generally given to the contestant that is most liked and respected by her peers. “The current definition of the award is that it ‘reflects the respect and admiration of the delegate’s peers, who voted for her as the most congenial, charismatic and inspirational participant.” – according to wikipedia.

Wow… this is a big honor to even be nominated!

Again, I am rendered *almost* speechless!

So, why am I sharing this with you (besides the fact that I am still slightly in shock)? So that YOU can go vote!

I’m seeking votes to win this thing, I will freely admit it! Yes, the honor is in being nominated (and it really is!) but to win would be so totally cool!

If you are a Mom Blogger, you may already know about this, but for those who don’t, I wanted to pass on something fun that I will be participating in next week (yes, the week that the kids go back to school… should be busy!)

Yours truly will be participating, though I may not be the most talkative car companion until later in the week. Each day, Sept. 1-5, will have a different theme… welcome home, gas prices, food (you know I’m there for that!), shopping and exploring my city.

There’s an interesting combo… are you intrigued?

Craftster.org is running a contest, and I got my entry in today (just in time!). They are trying to help create awareness for global warming, and have joined with 350.org to spread the word.

What’s the big deal about 350 you ask?
350 is the number that leading scientists say is the safe upper limit for carbon dioxide–measured in “Parts Per Million” in our atmosphere. 350 PPM–it’s the number humanity needs to get back to as soon as possible to avoid runaway climate change.

Did you notice the “get back to” part of that? Yes, we are past 350 ppm… BUT there is still hope! If we can reduce the amount of carbon emissions we can start to reduce the junk in the air, and help heal the planet.

So, lil ol’ me is doing my part to spread the word… and trying to win some cool swag in the process!

I was browsing around momdot.com this morning (they just gave away one of my bags!) and I saw that they have a contest going for a customizable, self-inking stamp from Blooming Babies – and they are WAAAAAAAAYYYYY cool!  I think that I need about 3 of them!

These would be great to use for Christmas gift tags, as a return address, on recipe cards (they have some!) library book plates… you name it!  I think that Mimsi Bags needs one to use on outgoing note cards.. but that is just me!

On top of all of the cute designs, they also come in colors!  They even come in two-color combinations… the outside lettering is a different color than the inside monogram – how cool is that?!?!?  AND you can change the color cartridges as your whims direct you to.
