WFW - He Is Risen!

Easter is one of those holidays that seems to have 2 separate celebrations… the celebration of the cross and the celebration of the bunny.  We are choosing to celebrate the cross!

The theme this week for Word Filled Wednesday is Because He Rose, and I chose a passage from John.  I hope you enjoy it.

15“Woman,” he said, “why are you crying? Who is it you are looking for?”
Thinking he was the gardener, she said, “Sir, if you have carried him away, tell me where you have put him, and I will get him.”

16Jesus said to her, “Mary.”
She turned toward him and cried out in Aramaic, “Rabboni!” (which means Teacher).

17Jesus said, “Do not hold on to me, for I have not yet returned to the Father. Go instead to my brothers and tell them, ‘I am returning to my Father and your Father, to my God and your God.’ ”

18Mary Magdalene went to the disciples with the news: “I have seen the Lord!” And she told them that he had said these things to her.

John 20:15-18

WFW-Trailing Behind

The sins of some men are obvious reaching the place of judgment ahead of them; the sins of others trail behind them.

1 Timothy 5:7

Yes, I am taking the week semi-off again. Amydeanne’s was so beautiful this week that I had to borrow it though!

As I type this, “Lead Me To The Cross” by Brooke Fraser is playing… it just seems fitting somehow. May we all remember that Jesus went to the cross for each of us, and He lives to make intercession for each of us.

Lord, this song is my prayer today…

“Lead me to the cross, where Your love poured out
Bring me to my knees, Lord I lay me down
Rid me of myself, I belong to You
Oh lead me… lead me to the cross”

Lord, fill us up with You today.

WFW- 2-4-09

This week’s topic is mind control… as in letting God have control of your mind rather than the things of this world. A part of this, to me, is to teach that same idea to your kids… so here is my Word Filled Wednesday for today!

2-4-09

Fix these words of mine in your hearts and minds; tie them as symbols on your hands and bind them on your foreheads. Teach them to your children, talking about them when you sit at home and when you walk along the road, when you lie down and when you get up. Write them on the doorframes of your houses and on your gates, so that your days and the days of your children may be many in the land that the LORD swore to give your forefathers, as many as the days that the heavens are above the earth.” Deuteronomy 11:18-21

*this photo was taken in 2002 - the girls were so little then!  It’s Eric & I and the girls, my Mom, Grandma and Great-Aunt.  There are 4 generations represented there!

WFW-1-28-09

This one was just too gorgeous NOT to share - AmyDeanne is the woman who started the Word Filled Wednesday carnival, and her photos each week are glorious. Enjoy!

Each tree is recognized by it’s own fruit.. Luke 6:44

Each tree is recognized by it’s own fruit.. Luke 6:44

We live in a society that is craving recognition… we want to be seen, to be noticed, to be told how great WE are, when in actuality we need to be recognizing God! This verse reminds us, however, that when we are living our lives in submission to Him and His will for us, we will gain recognition. The right recognition… His recognition of our lives.

Faith cannot be attained by works, lest any man should boast, but the fruit that is borne out of our faith in God and our love for God is seen. Our fruits are seen by the only one who needs to see them - not this world, but our Heavenly Father who has called us to Him in the first place.

A good reminder.

Thanks AmyDeanne for this thought-provoking verse this week.

WFW-Storms-1-14-09

matt-8-27

If the wind and the waves can obey Him, why is it so hard for us?

This is from Matt 8:23-27, where the disciples were terrified during a storm… and Jesus slept.  When they woke Him up, he rebuked them for their lack of faith!

When the storms come in our own lives, how often do we cry out in terror instead of letting God’s peace fill our hearts and trusting that He will see us to the other side of the storm?

He is able - more than able - to accomplish everything He has set before us each and every day, if we will but surrender our wills to His.

WFW-Rest

But they that wait upon the LORD shall renew their strength; they shall mount up with wings as eagles; they shall run, and not be weary; and they shall walk, and not faint. Isaiah 40:31

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
I love this passage… If we will seek Him and wait for His perfect timing, everything will work out perfectly. It is when we try to push our own timing and agenda on our lives and the lives of others that problems come.
As the old song adds, “Teach me Lord, teach me Lord, to wait.”
This is the cross that we placed where my dad crashed his plane. My husband built the cross, and we had it engraved with this verse and a picture of his plane. I haven’t been able to make it back up there since we put the cross in the ground, so I don’t know if it is still there or not… it’s inaccessible in the Winter, and I haven’t made it back home in the Summer for some time.
The funny thing is that I was planning to post a completely different verse today - also about the peace of God in our lives when I stumbled across this picture.  Last night’s home group discussion also seemed to center a lot around the concept of faith and the peace that only God can give… hmmm, perhaps He is trying to tell me something!
Merry Christmas WFW
isaiah-9-6
Isaiah 9:6 For unto us a child is born, unto us a son is given: and the government shall be upon his shoulder: and his name shall be called Wonderful, Counselor, The mighty God, The everlasting Father, The Prince of Peace.
Merry Christmas! I hope that you have received the perfect gift this Christmas season - the gift of Jesus, the Son of God, the blessed Prince of Peace.
