WFW-There Is A Light

Your word is a lamp to my feet and a light to my path. – Psalm 119:105, ESV
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Some days I just need this reminder that God is leading me step by step, and it doesn’t matter that I can’t see the end – or even what’s around the bend in the road – because I know that He is in control.
Yes, I know, there are two Word Filled Wednesday posts this week. But this one goes with Amy Deanne’s verse so much better.
WFW – Bless Your Enemy
19 “Never take your own revenge, beloved, but leave room for the wrath of God, for it is written, “VENGEANCE IS MINE, I WILL REPAY,” says the Lord.
20 To the contrary, “if your enemy is hungry, feed him; if he is thirsty, give him something to drink; for by so doing you will heap burning coals on his head.”
21 Do not be overcome by evil, but overcome evil with good. – Romans 12:19-21
How often have I heard this verse used as a chance to biblically “stick it to your enemy” when that is so not the intent. Verse 19 just finished stating that Vengence is the Lord’s… not ours. The idea that you will be heaping hot coals is not actually a curse upon them – it is a further blessing.
We are called to love – to love our neighbors as we do ourselves and to love our enemies and those who seek to harm us. Love is the most powerful force upon the earth. It can change anything.
Our of the overflow of the heart the mouth speaks, and the body acts. If we love those around us with God’s love, we will seek to bless them.
He Remains Faithful
“If we are faithless, He remains faithful, for He cannot deny Himself.” – 2 Timothy 2:13
I couldn’t resist this photograph. To me, this screams out a lifelong faithfulness – and a couple that are still very much in love.
WFW-Isaiah 26:3
“You keep him in perfect peace whose mind is stayed on You, because he trusts in You” – Isaiah 26:3
Today’s verse for our church and the topic for the Word Filled Wednesday (anxiety) meshed together so well that I couldn’t NOT take part.
WFW – He Is Risen!
Easter is one of those holidays that seems to have 2 separate celebrations… the celebration of the cross and the celebration of the bunny. We are choosing to celebrate the cross!
The theme this week for Word Filled Wednesday is Because He Rose, and I chose a passage from John. I hope you enjoy it.
15“Woman,” he said, “why are you crying? Who is it you are looking for?”
Thinking he was the gardener, she said, “Sir, if you have carried him away, tell me where you have put him, and I will get him.”
16Jesus said to her, “Mary.”
She turned toward him and cried out in Aramaic, “Rabboni!” (which means Teacher).
17Jesus said, “Do not hold on to me, for I have not yet returned to the Father. Go instead to my brothers and tell them, ‘I am returning to my Father and your Father, to my God and your God.’ ”
18Mary Magdalene went to the disciples with the news: “I have seen the Lord!” And she told them that he had said these things to her.
John 20:15-18
WFW-Trailing Behind
The sins of some men are obvious reaching the place of judgment ahead of them; the sins of others trail behind them.
1 Timothy 5:7
Yes, I am taking the week semi-off again. Amydeanne’s was so beautiful this week that I had to borrow it though!
As I type this, “Lead Me To The Cross” by Brooke Fraser is playing… it just seems fitting somehow. May we all remember that Jesus went to the cross for each of us, and He lives to make intercession for each of us.
Lord, this song is my prayer today…
“Lead me to the cross, where Your love poured out
Bring me to my knees, Lord I lay me down
Rid me of myself, I belong to You
Oh lead me… lead me to the cross”
Lord, fill us up with You today.
WFW- 2-4-09
This week’s topic is mind control… as in letting God have control of your mind rather than the things of this world. A part of this, to me, is to teach that same idea to your kids… so here is my Word Filled Wednesday for today!
“Fix these words of mine in your hearts and minds; tie them as symbols on your hands and bind them on your foreheads. Teach them to your children, talking about them when you sit at home and when you walk along the road, when you lie down and when you get up. Write them on the doorframes of your houses and on your gates, so that your days and the days of your children may be many in the land that the LORD swore to give your forefathers, as many as the days that the heavens are above the earth.” Deuteronomy 11:18-21
*this photo was taken in 2002 – the girls were so little then! It’s Eric & I and the girls, my Mom, Grandma and Great-Aunt. There are 4 generations represented there!
