Sunday Setlist 12/28/08

Yes, this is another weekly thing I am looking at doing… but I’m not sure which day of the week it will get posted!

I found this over at FredMcKinnon.com and it looks like a great way to share ideas about worship with others - occasionally getting a fresh perspective myself.

So, last Sunday was an odd one for us. First it was the last Sunday of the year. Normally we would have had a Sunday evening worship, communion and prayer service as well, but due to the snow it was canceled, as were our previous Sunday service and Christmas Eve services. Add on to that the fact that we were not in our normal facility (and who knows when we will be back in there!) so the service was a bit shorter than normal. We had to fit in-between the 2 services of our host church, giving us a scant hour and a half to get everyone in, worship and get out.

So, we pulled out the Christmas Eve service that we had planned an not been able to have. It was only 3 days after Christmas, so we figured that Christmas songs would be acceptable!

In light of all of that, there were a LOT more songs than normal (which I love!) Pastor Chris shared a short meditation rather than a sermon this week, due to the shortened time frame we were presented with, but it all worked out very nicely.

The only issue we had was a lack of knowledge of the space… it was built to project the vocals and instruments without any assistance needed. We were not aware of that, and brought in amps for the guitars. Mistake. With no mics for the voices, we were drowned out by the guitars. I have had a request for a re-cap of O Holy Night.

So, without further ado, here was our set list for Sunday, December 28, 2008.

O Come All Ye Faithful
Angels We Have Heard On High
God Rest Ye Merry Gentlemen
~ welcome, kids and announcements
Little Drummer Boy (with percussion instruments for the kids)
O Holy Night - duet
Dona Nobis Pacem - acapella choir
Gesu Bambino - choir with baritone solo (Art did great!)
~ testimony
~ meditation
Silent Night
What Child Is This
Hark The Herald Angels Sing
Joy To The World
Happy Birthday Jesus - solo by my 6 yo daughter. Very sweet!

That was our service… it was supposed to happen on Christmas Eve, but when you have 3 feet of snow on an uphill country road that doesn’t get plowed, things tend to get canceled.

Happy New Year to everyone!
