Sunday Setlist – 6-14-09

Part of Fred’s Sunday Setlist bloggy carnival.

What a beautifully cloudy day!   It’s gonna be a short one today – lunch is cooking.  ;)

The Liszt:

  • Everlasting God
  • Your Grace Is Enough
  • Made To Worship
  • Come Thou Fount
  • kids message
  • Everything To God
  • announcements
  • message – Now You See It, Now You Don’t
  • Communion
  • Your Grace Is Enough reprise

We were down by a few people today (and next week too) so the sound wasn’t quite as full as normal.  No keyboard does make a difference in the sound!

High point: Surprisingly, Everything To God was my high point.  That song is a love-hate thing for me… I love the idea behind the words, but it takes a TON of air to get through.  This morning it was so great though – I love watching the kids really get into it!

Low point: we had a great rehearsal… but the service was not quite so perfect.  Starting tempos were off, long outros that I had to just stand there for… not my fav. day.  Not bad, just not my fav.

The message was from Ecclesiastes & Colossians, and focused on our stuff.  As Americans, we have such a consumer mentality.  Having “stuff” isn’t necessarily bad, as long as it doesn’t take or focus off of God or take over our lives.  I’ll post the sermon when it gets uploaded – it was a good one!

That just about sums it up!

How was your service?

our church loves Everlasting God! we did Come Thou Fount this weekend too. and…

Amazing
Stand in Awe
Glorious One
How Marvelous

it was a great weekend. i usually end up struggling vocally, in part, because our air unit is directly in front/above where me and another vocalist stand and it always dries out my throat when it kicks on. it gets pretty intense.

the message was fabulous. pastor talked about being who we are, in and for God, in our communities while making sure we dont create a bunch of rules and regulations as Christians that would taint and tarnish His name in the process.

of course…Pastor explained it much better than that ;-)

We love Everlasting God (it was 1st and I saw many raising their hands by the 1st chorus – great!) however I didn’t enjoy it as much as normal today… I usually sing harmony on that one since the verses are a little low for me, but Art was on vacation. That left me singing the melody *pout* but I suffered through. It just felt like it was missing something, ya know?

I Love How Marvelous too… we just did that one last week? Maybe the week before…

Thanks for stopping by!

We had some similar parts of our AM message which dealt with the difference between being blessed just to have stuff, and blessed to be a blessing to others. Big mindshift for some people I’m sure. and if prosperity messages are to be really impactful, that latter caveat…blessing to be a blessing is so essential. Glad you got a cloudy day too ;)

Nice song list. I am not familiar with Everything to God. Who’s the artist?

Everything To God is from New Life Church – it was written by Jared Anderson. Great song for kids!
